Overview
St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) is an OECS island state whose passport is among the strongest in the Caribbean (Henley 157, the region's best), yet it still has no operational citizenship-by-investment programme. A CBI programme was announced in the February 2026 Budget Address for a mid-2026 launch, with proceeds flowing through a ring-fenced "genuine-link"/residency-linked vehicle (SVGIF). Until then, citizenship is obtained by naturalisation/registration. [1]

Per-Program Detail
citizenship_by_investment
- Official name: Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Investment Fund (SVGIF) — announced, not yet operational
- Conditions: Not yet published. Planned as the sixth Caribbean CBI, designed around a mandatory residency / "genuine-link" requirement, a deliberate departure from the no-residency Caribbean norm. [2]
- Duration / renewal: n/a (not launched).
- Path to citizenship: n/a until launch (mid-2026 target).
- Official source: https://pmoffice.gov.vc/pmoffice/index.php/37-citizenship-by-investment-programmes
- Community verdict: No data (programme not yet live). Registration/naturalisation fees today: application US$150, registration US$1,500–2,200.
Citizenship
Naturalisation/registration by residence, granted at government discretion (application via the Office of the Prime Minister). Dual citizenship permitted. No investment route is yet active. [3]
Tax
No capital gains, inheritance, or wealth taxes. Territorial-ish regime: residents taxed on local income; no personal income tax on foreign income for non-residents.
IT / Digital Nomad
No digital-nomad visa. The passport is strong (Schengen/UK access), but there is no residence or work hook for remote workers.
Yacht / Maritime
Major Caribbean yachting and charter destination — the Grenadines (Bequia, Mustique, Canouan, Tobago Cays) are a premier sailing ground. SVG flag yacht registration available.
Notes for RU Citizens
No CBI route yet, so no fast path for Russians; the planned "genuine-link" residency requirement would make it less convenient than Dominica/Vanuatu. Naturalisation is discretionary and slow.
Community Pulse
Expat/forum chatter focuses on SVG's strong passport (157 destinations) and the awaited CBI launch. Since no programme operates, there are no approval backlogs or processing complaints — only anticipation and uncertainty about pricing and the "genuine-link" condition.
Country Card
St Vincent and the Grenadines is a Windward Islands state of 32 islands and cays, with an economy centred on agriculture (bananas), tourism, and offshore finance. It punches above its weight on passport strength (the strongest in the Caribbean at Henley 157) while being the last major OECS state without a live CBI programme.
Strong points
- Strongest Caribbean passport (157 destinations, Schengen + UK)
- Solid rule of law (WJP 0.62) and stable democracy (FH 90/100)
- World-class sailing/yachting destination (the Grenadines)
- No income tax on foreign income for non-residents
Known problems
- No operational citizenship-by-investment programme (announced only)
- Planned "genuine-link"/residency requirement reduces CBI convenience
- Small, disaster-prone economy (La Soufrière volcano erupted 2021)
- No digital-nomad or passive-income visa
